Have you ever seen benchmarks in regards to the BDE. It is actually a pretty fast engine.

There can be no comparision to VB as VB is not OOP. One thing that is nice about Delphi - and VDB 7 for that matter - is its two way tools. Write code - and have the visual designer automatically see the changes. Or, make changes visually and see the change in code.

Delphi is another good choice and it is nice to see this opinion expressed here. Glad I am not alone<g>.
