I've been disappointed that no one has come up with any suggestions about this problem.

In my case, the issue was 2-fold. The primary issue was to fix the database without losing anything. The second one was to understand how something like this happens.

I was able to fix the problem by running VALIDATE DATABASE in a command window. So, I got my database back without losing anything.

I still would like to understand how a database becomes "corrupt"? The actual nature of the corruption, e.g. can I see it if I open the DBC as a table? And so forth.

Perhaps someone will still come forward with some information.
