Victor / all,

I was part of a team working on an app that has been operational for over 13 years (not a misprint) and been ported from FPD 2.x all the way to its current VFP 7 incarnation.

It's not built into an exe/app, but distributed as 46,000+ individual files, each sent (when changed) to dedicated servers at over 550 different locations (don't ask -- they have an entire team which does nothing but configuration management for this beast). The app handles loan origination for mortgage lending, and a team of ten to fifteen developers maintains and updates it monthly, expending about 1500 development man-hours for each release.

They've tried to replace it three times, and failed each time (although those attempts are used, they didn't replace the original that just keeps humming along). It still handles (at my last knowledge, which was about eight months ago) over 60 percent of the incoming business for this lender.
