>You make a great deal of false assumptions Denis.

It's easy to make false assumptions when you don't know much and there does'nt seem to be many positive things happening, besides the new versions released from time to time.

I was a bit surprised and disappointed with your first reply on that thread. I don't think I'm asking for you to bring me the moon.

From my standpoint I don't see many positive things happening with VFP. there are less and less members at our user's group that are attending each month. Practically no new faces.

>I enjoy my job, and the things I do make a difference. Not everything I do for VFP at Microsoft is seen by people here on the UT. There is more to be done for VFP 8.0 and then there is Europa late next year and the following year (2005). I have had job offers from outside of Microsoft as well as other jobs within Microsoft (to change groups and leave VFP) all this year, and I've turned them all down because I enjoy the job I have working with VFP, the VFP team, and the VFP community. If there were many others besides yourself posting messages like this to me, then I may not enjoy as much as I do.

Excuse me for the impresion that I give you. But perhaps you have too many friends in the community and they hesitate to really tell it to you like it is. Or perhaps this is more smoke and an attempt to make me feel ashamed about myself to be critical of your work.

So you really enjoy a no pressure job? What pressure could there be when the mandate is to look a market die without really having to do something about it.

I don't have anything against you. Let me explain how I feel. It's like when you go see a movie and many persons told you before you see it how good it is. Then you go to see it and your expectations are too high. So when you leave the place you feel like the movie was'nt that good.

Some developers told me that they went to devcons when you were there and how good you were. You developed the Class Browser and the Component Gallery. So without really knowing you but from what I heard I thought when you got that marketing job for VFP that you were going to kick some a**es because you really know VFP and you'll know which buttons to push make it a successfull development tool.

>The irony here is, one of the things that convinces VFP developers to learn something new other than VFP (usually Visual Studio) to either add to their toolbox are threads like this which you have started.

Hmmh some reverse psychology here. And you really think I'll stop creating threads like these. Would'nt MS job of eliminating VFP be easier without resistance <g>.

>Denis, the marketing efforts around VFP may include various new things including more case studies early next year, but overall, the marketing for VFP 8.0 will remain as it is now and the efforts around Europa will be about what they are for VFP 8.0. This includes how VFP is messaged independently (stand-alone) as well as with Visual Studio (how they work together well for many solutions).

I can't wait to see that. If it does'nt happen what would be the difference. Just another dissapointment.
