Perry,

I agree with you in some aspects, however, I disagree with you in others.

I think that the problem is not with the tool itself - VFP is a contemporary tool and not an obsolete tool. The problem is how you use this tool. Since we released our WebPortal, directly supporting VFP, we won competition from Java camps - yes, we beat them in their own game with VFP in enterprise development (register for our demo at http://www.arnicacorp.com - take a look, I wonder what would be your opinion about what VFP could do). I have examples that Java people and PHP people are now learning VFP because they were amazed how easy to use VFP to build webportal-based service oriented thin client data driven systems.

However, what is intersting is that it is easier for us to get PHP people to learn VFP then to get VFP programmers to migrate to contemporary enterprise architecture!

I remember what happened several years ago, when PHP was almost unknown tool. After the PostNuke - their webportal platform has been released, PHP usage jumped to several millions sites in just a year or two.

Well, we just started marketing our web platform - (the only known to me on the market, supporting VFP) complete platform supporting VFP directly. It includes web portal, web reporting, web forms, identity management, etc. It integrates VFP very well with .NET and MS SQL Server and take VFP in the same league as other tools.

Igor.
