It was the folks at MS that originally said that the reason VFP has problems with certain ActiveX controls was because those controls did not strickly adhere to the published standards and that VB was less demanding in that area than VFP and VC++ are. That meant that if a control was tested for VB only it may not work correctly in other OLE containers.
I didn't read this as VFP being more compliant but rather less forgiving of variations from the standard.
