I promised myself I wouldn't respond to you any more, but here goes... hopefully I can make it a resolution for 2004.

>Done ?? Na - we are not done. It will be done when jAYvEEpEE again is put on the outside of Universal Thread. I challenge YOU and everyone else to study his writings for the last four years, and 'understand' his viewpoint. Once you've done that - you'll get the wonderfully warm feeling *WHY* he should be banned from any VFP related online forum.

>I have to say, it was interesting going down memory lane... I went back to 1998, and found a gem in message 149200. I believe 1999 was the critical year...why....I don't totally recall.

That's a "gem"!?!?!? A few folks, even the better-knowns, futzing around about the demise of VB is a "gem"?? And in a thread you started! Boy, your yardstick is about as good as the .NET Team's yardstick is for a "case study"!
What's really funny is that, though the kidding around turned out to be RIGHT ON THE MONEY you neglect that part. You truly are one "different" guy!

>
>IAC - calling for outright censorship and banning is the sign of weak-minded people. You are in good company...
>

Really?...and on what basis do you make that statement? You know, one could easily conclude, from your comportment here since your return, that you're begging to be banned yet again. Ostracized just won't do for you, you NEED an outright ban.

>I simply have a different POV. What worries you and people like you is that people do and will listen. Steve Black referred to me as the most dangerous person on the Fox Community. That hit home...and that also told me that I was doing something right.
>
Therein lies the rub, Johnny. We ALL know that you have a 'different' POV than most others here as concerns VFP. How the hell can we NOT know when you take even the most oblique opportunity to yet again reinforce your "POV". If nothing else, John, it shows that you don't trust your readers to get and remember what you have to say and that's insulting to most of us!
I've also, privately (when you were pushing VB so hard over VFP) stated that you are THE most dangerous person on UT and shouldn't be considered a 'member' of the Fox community! My opinion hasn't changed one iota, though admittedly you have personally diminished the threat by your antics here over the last while. Now people can see plainly for themselves, from your own writing, that you are not so much dangerous as you are unbalanced.
Believe me, that does NOT mean that you are "doing something right" though it certainly does mean that you ARE "doing something right silly".

>The most appaling thing are post like yours - telling people what to think and how they should think. I on the other hand are respectful of other points of view. I may disagree - sometimes vigorously - but nonetheless, I do respect the other points of view as long as they are on point and they don't get personal. I am 100% guilty as charged when it comes to making mistakes and getting personal. I think in my time back here - I have pretty much stayed on point and have done a better job of not getting sucked into personal flame wars.
>
You have NO RESPECT for other points of view... you pretend to have some by interjecting "good point" or "valid point" but then you go on yet again ignoring the actual point and spouting yet MORE OF THE SAME.
"STAYED ON POINT"?... only in one single respect - that as soon as someone says anything that gives you a sliver of an opening to repeat your mantra, you do so instantly! WE ALL KNOW YOUR "POINT" JOHN! GIVE IT A REST!

>Face it...you and people like you are so DESPARATE when it comes to Fox that you will try to go to ANY length to silence other points of view. You should think very seriously about what you are advocating.
>

Face it John... YOU and ONLY YOU are so desperate (see, I can spell it) to proclaim Fox dead that you will try to go to any length to silence other points of view! That you seem to see this as a perfectly normal thing to go about rehashing and rehashing and rehashing IN A VFP FORUM is testament to your sense of reason.

>Although I would never breach confidences, I do get private email from UT'ers thanking me for saying what I have said and for adding balance to what would otherwise be a boring/1 sided discussion...
>

John, there are no doubt some who want to egg you on, and I see that you are giving them what they ask for.
But your rationale is gravely amiss... balance to what, exactly? To someone simply saying in some thread something like 'boy, good ol VFP bailed me out again' or 'we finally go the go ahead to replace the Powerbuilder app that never got off the ground with a VFP system' or 'Geez, I doubt that this could have been done in 3 lines of code with .NET like I show here in VFP' or 'why has MS even allowed publication of a "case study" that maligns one of it own products?' and other like comments???? THIS IS A VFP FORUM, JOHN!!! That you feel so compelled to reply with the same old tired story to comments like these says that you've lost any sense of 'balance'.

>Instead of casting stones at me - saying that I succumb to the straw man, etc. - perhaps you should try and elevate the level of your discourse.
>
Someone's tag line here says 'craziness is the tendency to keep doing the same thing while expecting a different result' and you do keep doing the same thing over and over and over again and again and again and people here continue to write that they like/enjoy using VFP.

>One thing is for certain Bill...I could not contribute anything from here on out technically....my contributions over the years will still surpass yours....
>
There comes a time, John, when one has spent all of the currency banked. You're running on empty now, John. You haven't done a single positive thing for this community for several years now, but you have done lots of negative things. You'd be surprised at just how many "atta boys" are eaten up by a single 'ah sh*t!!' Your 'atta boys' were exhausted long ago and you're running on credit now!

>Happy New Year...

It would truly be a marvellous New Year's resolution on your part to resolve to STOP taking shots at VFP and VFP's future and anyone who professes the least bit of happiness with VFP as a product!
