Jim,

I think you are twisting the argument around. I've never, ever seen comments from anyone that they wish VFP would die tomorrow.

Your statement, "The rest of us are busy TRYING to KEEP VFP GROWING by whatever means we can muster. Why is it so important to you and your buddy to stop that????", sums up the problem. Ken Levy has already responded previously that this type of tact is more detrimental then helpful. Sorry, but VFP quit "growing" at least 5 years ago. How many posts have you seen here from someone stating that they work at a company that just adopted VFP as their main development platform?

From a purely practical standpoint, Jim Duffy has stated here that from a VFP teachers perspective, all of his current crop of students are there to learn so they can perform maintenance on existing VFP apps. VFP is not going to die tomorrow because MS is willing to acknowledge the existing VFP base. Companies that I am aware of that are planning to rewrite existing VFP apps are taking their time because VFP is being updated.

And if you are really aware of the what the state of the market is, why aren't you simply asking questions of those who mention other technologies, rather then attacking.

I for one appreciate having these people around. So I can ask someone who is very familiar with where I am coming from when I ask a question about how to accomplish something in .Net, Java or whatever. The argument that this is a VFP only forum is ridiculous. The market is changing and I would like the oportunity to exploit any resource I can to get ahead.

Unfortunately, this place seems more and more like a cult to me.

>Sorry, Dave, but you have it ALL WRONG!!!

>There's only one person fighting any kind of "war" here and that fight is to simply get acknowledgement that HE IS RIGHT.

>The rest of us are living quite peacefully amongst ourselves, going about our daily business and hoping against hope that the warrior will burn himself out (since he obviously doesn't tire of repeating the same crap over and over and over).

>We ALL know and acknowledge that VFP's days are numbered. We ALL feel exactly the same about C# or VB.NET or the .NET framework. WE ALL KNOW THAT NOTHING IS FOREVER.

>Since there are so many of US and so few of you (who simply can't comprehend that people have desires as well as logic in their critical thinking) why don't you (and your buddy) question WHY VFP's FUTURE DEMISE IS SO IMPORTANT TO YOURSELVES!
>The rest of us are busy TRYING to KEEP VFP GROWING by whatever means we can muster. Why is it so important to you and your buddy to stop that????
