Randy - note - it was one of the three ? Not all at once ...
My residual projects usually pay me the most - but I am a bit cagey about them. Usually get approached a businessman with an idea - and wants to 'build a universe' and then market it .
IF I think the project has some merit based on niche, marketability, or potential SALES volume, and the due diligence pans out, then I'll take the plunge and set up a joint venture. I typically won't get paid for a residual project until there are some sales - and then I have some base percentage of sales revenue that I take from the JV - and try - usually with good success - to be paid on a quarterly basis.
and..
to the person that brought it all to me - I do pay a referral fee of 2 % of MY base, every time a check comes my way.
Hope I was clear ???
Residual Projects are always 'chancy' and have the highest risk. My due diligence procedures scare most IP attornies, but I have managed to teach a few IP attornies some things over the past 3 years as well..
hoping this finds you well, and well rested..
mondo regards [Bill]
