We use MS Office Web Components Chart object. You can download the latest version from the MS website. I believe it also comes installed with MS Office 2000 and Office XP.
We use it for displaying charts on our website in real-time. Best part is that it's free.
It's a COM object and the basic idea is that the OWC object creates a .GIF image of your chart. So, it'll work for creating charts for your Windows or Web apps.
