Peter,
MS Query is designed to return result sets to Excel. Maybe you could VFP's DDE commands to work with it and do the same thing, I don't know. The MS Query Help gives all the DDE commands supported by it and some examples on how to use them.

However, if you simply want an ad hoc query interface for your users, maybe one of the entries in the Downloads section will help. Use "query" in the Description field.
