VFP 8 SP1 is very stable and well worth the upgrade. However, please be sure to note the system requirements for the full development version:

Of particular note is the fact that the development version requires Win2000 or XP, although the runtime can work with Win98 and ME (no 95 or NT).

Also be sure to check out the SET ENGINEBEHAVIOR command, which allows you to mimic 7.0 standards related to some SQL SELECT commands. VFP 8 tightened those standards in several places, particularly related to GROUP BY, so some queries in your existing app might not work "as is" (or is it "as are"?).

That being said, I do not hesitate to recommend it to you. You will not want to go back to 6 once you've used Intellisense in VFP8. That alone is worth the upgrade.
