I don't think that SPT vs remote views are a problem or the VFP version. (Although, check to make sure that the Transactions setting is set to AUTO.) I beleive it is an issue with permissions.

My suggestion would be to create a user role that is also a member of the db_datareader and db_datawriter but the permissions on the necessary tables for delete/insert are explicitly set.
