Hi all:

I'm trying to setup the UPS shipping software on a Win98 machine. This software apparently attempts to connect to the UPS site (www.ups.com) under the hood to run its end of day routine. Works fine on our old Win95 machine, but UPS is requiring Win98 for the next update of the software. After installing the software on a fresh Win98 box, the communication test fails with a "DNS Lookup failure" error. Again, we do not get this error on our Win95 box. UPS support has been no help.

Here is some additional info:

When pinging www.ups.com from Win95, the ip address is resolved (153.2.224.50). When pinging on Win98, I get "Unknown Host www.ups.com." However, I can open IE and browse www.ups.com successfully on either machine.

I am not a networking specialist. Can someone give me some help with this? We can fall back on dial-up, but I'd prefer to go through our high speed connection.

Thanks,
Del
