>I don't understand your point. If a DLL works with VFP8 and with Windows, what do you care what the supplier does with it in the future? You buy it, you have it, it works for you now and it will still work in that environment in the future.

>If you are talking of a Framework, I use a commercial VFP framework. It does certainly change, with frequent upgrades, improvements and bug fixes. None of that is suppossed to break any of your code, as long as you subclass into an intermediate layer that insulates you against any unwanted changes in the new version of the Framework. I could still be using the yr 2000 version of that Framework if I wanted, as I could still be using VFP6 and be happy with it, if I did not care for the newer capabilities.

Hi Alex;

Sorry, I did not make myself clear.. If I recall fine I'll tell some experiences.. In 1995 we bought a utilitary little expensive named Xseed, for 2 months we change lines and lines of code and bingo, we were ready to go, So we start to use it, and 6/8 months after that, they change all the integrations rules.. Trash was the destiny our work (to produce all the change in our application we would need 2/3 months more, and the client was not able to pay that bill)

Other experience was in 1999.. Began here in Brazil a new law that forced all the owners of small stores to use eletronic transfer of founds with credit cards companies and fiscal printer (a special printer that records amounts).. To turn that features available in our POS systems, we would need to do partnership with some hardware manufacturer, so we decided to seek for a very strong one (for no risks).. Procomp was our choice (some biggest brazilian manufacturing company of peripherals).. 4 Months after that under hard work and many, many travels to SaoPaulo (meeting also with some yours work-mate from Visa-Brazil. Maybe you know Regina) we were (again) ready to go.. In 2001 (one/two years after) the american Diebold bought Procomp company and they decide to move their efforts for bank's automation only.. One more time trash was the destiny of our work..

This is only the most traumatic situation that I can recall, I have some more.. :)
