The reason we clash is because you keep presenting SP as the very best option, period.

I am sure there are other reasons. As far as SP being the best option - when compared to RV's - they are. OTOH, cases can be made to render SQL from the client via SPT. Remember that RV's are an implementation of SPT.
If you are going to frame my argument, please do so correctly and accurately.

I can understand why you prefer to shoehorn me into an anti-SP position because I cannot agree that SP is always right...but writings in the wiki and elsewhere make that an impossible task for you. Join me in advocating appropriate choices depending on circumstances, and we'll have nothing to disagree about.

I see you as pro-RV more than anti-SP. You and I could definitely discuss when it is appropriate to use SPT to render client-side SQL as opposed to a SP. OTOH, there is not much to discuss when you pit RV's over SP.
I see RV's as a less than desireable choice given other alternatives. I understand why people do gravitate to RV's. And - I understand there are many success stories. That said, there are a number of failures out there as well. There are a number of situations where there are numerous headaches that result from RV's.
The only thing we really disagree on is RV's. You promote their use - I do not.
