Using VFP 7/8, I am exporting data to Excel using COPY TO MyFile.xls TYPE XL5. I can open the spreadsheet without any problems, but when I come to close it (after a few modifications), I get the message "Do you want to overwrite with latest Excel format?" (I am using Excel 2002). The spreadsheet is overwritten daily, so it is rather a nuisance to have to convert it every time it is amended.

Is there any way to create the spreadsheet in a more up-to-date format which doesn't produce the above message? AFAIK there are only the XLS and XL5 options. TYPE CSV is not the ideal solution, because we cannot guarantee that every pc opening the spreadsheet will have CSV associated with Excel.

Any help would be appreciated.
