Just FYI : On XP Pro, VFP 6 the OS(3) function returns a string beginning with the word "Windows". Val() of a string not beginning with a digit always 0.

Well, in VFP 8 on XP PRo it returns a 5. Hmm, I'll have to look at that on a windows 98 box and see what is says.
