Actually, it looks like it's a VFP issue...I was able to replicate this using VFP base classes!

Here's the skinny...if you set the Format property to "KT" and the InputMask property to "XXXXXXX..." (etc.). It does the same thing with the VFP base text box! My test case used a standard VFP base form (non-MM).

You can "cure" the problem by not setting the input mask or by removing the "T" from the Format property.
