Although I am no expert on this particular topic, I want to share some ideas.
First, obviously the two sides have to have the same network protocols. For instance, TCP/IP, which is growing into a World-wide standard.
The file-sharing part, I have seen in Windows that you can share a folder so that a Macintosh computer accesses it; strangely, in the Windows version I have seen, you do this in the old-fashioned File Manager (run WinFile). Somewhere in the menu there is a command to share for Macintosh, but I don't remember the exact command.
I don't know how to share the other way around, or how to share a printer (perhaps also in the File Manager).
