>Along with the liberation of Kuwait, Afganistan and Iraq, I'd say the Republicans have done a good job at promoting human rights.

Is there some kind of disconnect here?....

I don't see liberating Kuwait as a "human rights" issue. At All.
I don't see the war in Afghanistan as a "human rights" issue so much as a self-defense issue. I would agree that human rights, especially for women, are improving there, but it seems like there are still miles to go in that one.
I don't see the war with Iraq as a "human rights" issue at all!!! President Bush WANTED to get Saddam Hussein along with Iraq's O-I-L (OIL) and used a pretext now proven TOTALLY FRAUDULENT. That the people of Iraq have some chance now at a better life is good, but simply a by-product of the false war.

In fact, for the two last ones you name, the jury is very much still "out" as far as "human rights" improvements are concerned. And, again, those were by-products and NOT AT ALL the justification for either of those wars.
