We use konxise to encrypt our exe far more securely than VFP's native "encryption". That is a fantastic product.

We encrypt data by providing an encrypted file to each customer containing customer name (to be branded into every form header to limit piracy!), table encryption keys, license details, license expiration date etc etc. We have an encrypted table in home office that has a list of customers with all these details. An encrypted exe allows staff to update customer details and generate a new file if customers purchase more product and/or renew their license. you could put a password in there as well for a basic allow use/disallow for the app. Only somebody who knows how to de-encrypt the table or the generated file can get the keys and access the data directly; but somebody who knows that has inside information and is going to be able to break in no matter what you do.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
