Hi,

Ah, I've never used .NET on the client side of a web service - does it automatically update the variable which was passed in as a 'byRef' parameter with the returned value? If so then I can see you've got a reasonable emulation of passing by reference. <

Yes, that's the way it works for a .NET client. I messed with WebServices with VFP only a few times and that was more than two years ago. I don't remember much, but wouldn't a VFP client work the same way? Or was that the reason for this thread to begin with?

Sorry - been away a couple of days and see the threads rolled on. Like you I haven't done much with VFP as either a web service server or client for a long time; haven't done much even with .NET in the past 3-4 months either.

Out of curiosity I just built a .NET web service with a parameter passed in by ref. The schema that was generated set the minOccurs for that element as 0. I wonder why that is ?

Regards,
Viv
