You can highlight text by using the HTML commands for bold, and for italic, among others.
For bold, put < B > at the beginning, and < /B > at the end.
For italic, put < I > at the beginning, and < /I > at the end.
Note that I have included extra spaces, so that you can see the codes, instead of the results. You have to omit those spaces.
Also, if you want to see how somebody created some special effect in a message, press the "Reply" button, but don't send your reply. This will usually show you the message, the way it was written.
Another important HTML code is < PRE > and < /PRE >, used for showing program code. This will use a fixed-width font, and maintain spaces and tabs.
