Hi John,

Thank you for your reply.

I think your main theme holds true that MS SQL and Oracle would add more teeth, I worked as MS SQL developer and Sys Admin. and it sure adds to your credentials and apptitudes to have a heavy weight DB experince under your wing but that also underlines part of the problem that Customers out there think of FoxPro as Database as opposed to how we developers thinkg of it as a Development tool.

VB.Net and other .Net languages would definitely have an edge for web based Apps, otherwise they might be an overkill esp. looking at economics side of it and VFP is a very formidable opponent not to say a ruling king, Data manipulation wise but we simply respond to market forces beyond our reach sometimes. I guess we all worked or know someone who did for some Gov. Contract where the big General loved MS Access, therefore very little consideration was given to more powerful development tools and whether MS Access can handle the job or not. More often than not, the choice of development tools is already made and sometimes poltically made by the time we get to the table.

VFP Market only might slow down but I don't think it'll be dead cuz to me that brings up the issue of Unix death which hasn't taken place and probably never will, I sure hope MS marketing blitz with VFP 6 as part of Visual Studio and certainly with VFP 8.0 would pay off for them and us.

At the end of day and I agree with you we sharpen our skills for the jobs in demand.
