I tell my kids to pursue what they want, but I then add that they'll have an easier time getting jobs in some professions than others and that some jobs are low pay while others are high pay. I think it's more important that they do something they enjoy rather than something dad wants them to do.

President Eisenhower in 1957 was concerned due to the USSR launching a satellite before the United States did. He told the youth of our nation to peruse careers in engineering, physics and science, to compete with Russian technology. So I went into engineering.
