We've told our kids to figure what they can do that would make them happy to get out of bed in the morning and go to work.

Son #1 is applying to grad school in physics and will probably end up a researcher, possibly in an academic setting.

Son #2 hasn't figured out what he wants to do yet, because there are a whole bunch of things he loves and he's not ready to rule any of them out. But he has plenty of time to figure it out--he'll be a freshman at Yale next fall.
