John,

>This is an EIF (Excercise in Futility). Walter is among the unwashed how rely on and parrot anecdotal experience as their own. He is the proto-typical "Fox Guy" - who slams every tool out there becuse it is not like Fox. He will do this in spite of not having use the tool to any serious degree. Based on his assertions about SQL Server, .NET, etc, it is clear he has never taken a serious look at those tools. As such, his opinions and conclusion are inccurate and therefore, are suspect.

How wrong you are. I've got a very warm feeling for various programming languages out there. C/C++ and Delphi are good examples, even C# seems compelling. SQL server is an invaluable tool in my toolbox. However you've got to use the wisely and at least don't listen to the hype sensitive guys who jump every new fancy tool on the market and try to drag as many developer into a swamp of failure.

However, I WOULD NEVER ADOPT A DEVELOPMENT TOOL WITHOUT A DECENT LOCAL DATABASE ENGINE FOR DATABASE APPLICATIONS. So you tell me, what options do I have ???

You OTOH are a guy telling lies about capabilities of tools you don't even have substantial experience in. You tried to talk everybody into VB and ADO two years ago. Poor souls. If you only see how disappointed those guys are now....

You are the most dangerous guy here on the UT, because all you tell is based on nothing more than you imagination. Looking at the past of you VB evangelism there is no reason to doubt that you did not learn the lesson and continued your practices with the adoption of VB.NET. Surely you'll get some of those to .NET and let them drown..

People are better of listening to real knowledgable people like Rick Strahl or Cetin Basoz than listen to the crap you're spouting.

Walter,
