Hey, John,

Those stats do not surprise me at all, and in a few cases I've noticed that myself.

Here's some additional info - I know first-hand of instances where companies are re-writing their vertical market apps in .NET. #1 reason was that potential clients refused to purchase the app because it was written in VFP.

I'm the first to state that many don't know how powerful VFP is. (Conversely, some don't seem to understand .NET either). I've used Fox since 1988 and I've made a very good living from it (and C/C++). But the fact remains what you stated...that the market is contracting. And contrary to what was suggested here this morning...certainly not because of posts you've made on this thread!

My own opinion is that good Fox developers will likely be able to make a good living for another 2 years or so, perhaps a tad longer. I think part of the reason is that some shops don't (or can't) afford the training costs of converting to a new technology, yet need to upgrade their products and services to expand their business.

After that, those who decided beforehand to invest time in learning other technologies will likely be better off. That was a decision I made 2 years ago, when I realized that the day would come when I might have to regularly develop apps in an environment where VFP wasn't part of the active picture.

Kevin
