I have read your post simply put, the thrust of your post deals with shrink-wrapped accounting packages and not custom software development - which is the segment of the market my comments are aimed at.
I merely responded to your issue about educating (trying to convince) management that VFP is a viable tool.
Accounting packages are a commodity. As long as the package can interface with Oracle/SQL Server and has a comparably low TCO - who cares what it is written in. Serioiusly...so what if an accounting app is written in VFP, .NET, Access, VB, etc? If it works well, meets needs, has an interface so that other apps can interact with it - who cares what it is written in - you won't get an argument from me on that.
