Gary,

Thank you for your observations. When anyone feels my judgement is clouded, I go back and re-think/re-read what I said. Here are my thoughts...

- There was a big concern expressed by someone that 'what if one of my clients comes on this thread and sees all this negative stuff from John?'

Quite frankly, I think whoever expressed that concern should be 10 times more worried about the immature responses have come from specific people who disagree with John's views. Talks of banning people, ad hominem attacks, aggressive use of four-letter words, and mendacity are far more likely to discourage a client than an assessment of the VFP market.

- I read Houston's original post and then Bonnie's response. As far as I'm concerned, the response wasn't out of line or 'flippant'. I think the focus should be on someone going around advocating the ban of a UT member.

Admittedly, I wanted to 'come to the aid' of Bonnie (though she's probably tougher than I am and doesn't need my help!), because she and others have been very helpful over on the .NET forum. Perhaps my reaction was a bit strong and maybe wasn't even necessary...at the same time, I think you need to ask yourself if you would have considered Bonnie's reaction 'flippant' if she did not have (your words) 'less risk' by working in C#.

You are correct - I didn't like Houston's message. Not because it was directed at JVP per se, but because I think it's way over the top, regardless of whom he wanted to ban.

- Precisely where is it written that this is a 'pro' Fox board???...it's a Fox board. I think it's extremely topical for JVP to bring up relevant points regarding VFP marketing, etc. It just so happens that he brings up points that many do not like to hear. Several years ago, I really took issue with some of the things John was saying...and then I began to notice that John was right on many areas.

- Perhaps the most insightful statement came when you told Bonnie that because she is strong in C#, she is at less risk in her career than many Fox developers. Of course, I agree with that statement. But you do realize that you are supporting one of JVP's bigger arguments.

Kevin
