Hi Greg

>My only comment is I think sometimes that VFP's footprint is under-estimated because a handful of extremely large accounting companies (like AccPac) have products built on the technology. The VB market however is a lot more fragmented with hundreds or even thousands of smaller companies fighting to get their foot in the door.

I dont know Greg - havent done the research. But it sounds good to me ;)

>Perhaps the biggest threat to VFP longterm is the thin client and whatever form that may take. Typically most of my application development is to now use VFP for all the maintenance and in-house applications but then use web front ends for dealer and customer networks. Down the road I believe that IT departments will want to consolidate their skills and web-centric technologies is the way to go.

We have made a range of apps from thin client to fat client to browser based with a VFP backend. Somewhere VFP is always involved in our apps but we rope in whatever tools seem to help do the job. I dont know if all apps will be web-centric. I think it will be an app by app decision and sometimes combinations of things.
