>Duron 2000 is equal to ??? celeron
there was a compilation of all the benchmarks done at tomshardware
- starting with PII and K6.
Another point: the systems have at least mainboards with
probably very different characteristics.
Dunno how it works in Honduras, but here to get the
best balanced low perf comp is to buy a used one on ebay.
The components / combinations make me feel uneasy,
if seen with german new HW prices in mind.
Buying *prebuilt* new "low budget" combinations will
get you IMHO not the best value.
Tracy's linked article makes a lot of sense.
My rule of thumb is:
get the cpu with best perf/price ratio
get the HD with best perf/price ratio
get a solid MB
without integrated graphics
with everything else you need on board
get your RAM in one strip, adding later is easy then
CD/RW/DVD: go for the best price and funtionality needed
video card:
depends on whether anybody is a gamer,
great potential to save money (for me at least)
monitor:
put most of left over money here, because you will
probably use the monitors longest.
