Hope this helps some. Temporary DBF's ( cursors, etc. ) may always processed by the version that created them. Isolating these instances from those where permanent DBF's are used will reduce your workload. A couple other points to consider are use of 'SET CPDIALOG on | off' in case you haven't already assigned Code Page numbers to all your permanent DBF's -- this will demand / ignore the entry of code page number by users for DBF's which don't already have them. Finally, the real underlying basis of incompatibility between DBF's -- VFP puts x'48' in first byte of DBF header regardless of the existance of a memo file, and the use of 4 byte memo field pointers in VFP compared to the 10 byte memo field pointers in prior versions of Fox. ( when you see 'not a DBF' it will probably be one ot these two factors )
