Hello,

I am just starting on a project where there is a lot of data entry from remote sites. Currently data is sent to the central site via email or on floppy disks! Yes, floppy disks. However it is a real mess keeping data in sync.

I want to propose a VFP 8.0 desktop app that will consume a VFP 8 web service. However before I start on this path I was wondering how efficient it is going to be. The users are all over the place and while most have dynamic IP DSL or cable modem, some are still on modems. The data entry will consist of entering bibliography type records - authors, publisher, abstracts, etc, etc.

The client is currently "happy" with his floppy disk system and doesn't want to move to a web service option if performance is going to take a nose dive. Also he does like not want to move to a web based solution since some users don't always have web access. Just wanted to post this lengthy email and see if it I can get any feedback from others who may have gone down this path. Lastly is there any recommended sample code out there I should be looking at?

Thanks,

Nancy
