>We are exploring the possibility of using Visual FoxPro to develop a client/Server application which will use Sybase SQL Anywhere as its primary data source. This unlikely combination would allow us to leverage our VFP experience ( and class libraries) and to satisfy our market's demand for a portable, scalable RDBMS.(MS-SQL Server is not portable. That eliminates VFP/SQL Server as a scalable database option for us)

I worked with VFP/Sybase SQL Anywhere and found that it is pretty reliable combination. Can't say the same for VFP/Sybase - the problem there as I can see is mostly in ODBC drivers, which (at least those versions we had) do not support everything what VFP/SQL Anywhere does without any problems. But SQL Anywhere originally was not a Sybase product.
