Hi John,

How does that apply with all of the H1B Visas in the U.S. right now in the IT field when there are MANY experienced IT folks without jobs and some that lost their jobs when their company switched to hiring H1Bs... There was even a special on 60 minutes about it. There was one story where the company had the existing employees actually train their replacements.

>>How will they know if there is a surplus of Fox developers in Canada?

>>Based on what numbers? Ads on the internet and/or ads in newspapers.
>>
>>Even with those numbers it's a known fact that public advertisement represents a small percentage of jobs available in any given field.
>>
>>Here's how I see it. First they'll become aware that Fox is a programming language. Then they'll enquire about if the persons has a place to work if he's accepted in Canada. And then they would decide on what happens next.
>>
>>I probably simplified that too much. Did I?

>One of the basics of any immigration policy is that you try not to take jobs away from people in the country already. i.e., if there are people qualified to do the job, and they are already here, you often will not be able to import the talent. For example, in the US, there is a shortage of nurses. So if you need work visas for a nurse, it is far easier to get that as opposed to an occupation where we have a surplus of talent. There is also the educational requirements you have to fulfill as well.
