I'd add a fourth point to the discussion: why not define your dataenvironment in code?

Ed made a reply today "Save data entry form as class" that explains the concept quite well. Defining data environments in code gives you a lot of flexibility that cannot be achieved by the original DE. More on this on my web site. Specifically search a link to the Codebook news, a free publication by Charles T. Blankenship. Issue 1 explains this in great details. I have also a powerpoint presentation available for download.
