You can do that as Cetin explained, but you'll soon discover that your general field tends to bloat (it's size is more than just the sum of the different BMP's sizes). This topic has been discussed here several times in the last weeks. So do a search in the messages database and I'm sure you'll retrieve a lot of interesting information.
