I've seen this a lot, back then. Even in FPD2.6, if I remember correctly. The zero is there already, to start with - that's the initial value. However, when you start typing, you type from left, inserting digits, and this zero should vanish. Now in 2.6 it didn't vanish until you typed over it, or until you pressed the decimal point character - then the digits to the left would flush to the right and the zero would vanish.

However, in VFP5, this somehow didn't work, and there was a way for the zero to get added to the digits you actually typed. I don't remember exactly when and how, but it was a real PITA of a problem. Haven't seen it for a while, so I think it's been fixed in latter versions of Fox.
