I hope you figured out what the problem here was (since your post is old!). I had a similar problem that was driving me nuts. I went through every conceivable fix, and I finally realized what was wrong. In one of my index-tags, I used the fully qualified name of the field:

[table_name].[field_name]

My problem was that I was using a backup-copy of the table (with a different name), and the index dutifly attempted to search on the original table's field. Very frustrating!
