Fernando....

I did want point out a glaring inaccuracy in Whil's post and to send a note to people who have written VFP books for Whil.

This quote:

The opportunity for Fox book publishers disappeared in 1996, when the last book by a publisher other than myself was released. Since then, the only books for the product have been produced by a guy whose office is in a spare bedroom in his house. In 2004, that opportunity has disappeared even for me, as we will be producing no more Fox books other than those already in the works. The market is simply not big enough any longer.

In fact, two books came out from other publishers after 1996. In 1998, our VFP 6 Enterprise Development book was published. Also, the Using VFP 6 Book from Que was released.

Also, a special note to Hentzenwerke VFP book authors... Check your contracts. Since Whil is abandoning the VFP market place, Whil - through the contract - may have relinquished first rights on derivative works. In other words, you *may* be entitled to take your existing body of work, update it, and sell it yourself without involvement from Whil. Again, it all depends on the deal you negotiated. It is standard in the publishing world that when a publisher goes out of business, abandons a market, or declines to not excercise its right on a new edition, the agreement ceases to be in force though self-executing language in the contract itself. Alternatively, you may have to formally ask Whil to agree to a new edition. If he then declines - which he apparently will do, you are then on your own to create future editions yourself.
