Your number seems odd, Raj... wouldn't that mean that your records are something over 6,000 character positions EACH??? IF that is correct then surely you have room for some design changes.
IF, however, you are referring to a .FPT file of that size (which seems more likely to me) then you can periodically - can only be done in EXCLUSIVE mode - PACK MEMO the table in question to eliminate any 'bloat' that exists in the .FPT.
