Depending on the size of the company, you may need quite a bit more that, some of the larger companies in Australia for instance require $5-10 Million worth of coverage before you can do work for them. So I am sure the larger companies in the US (where it seems there is a higher chance they will try and sue you rather than help develop a solution if something does go wrong) may require more than $500K which may be quite a bit more expensive?

My only point being that you should ask your customer how much they actually require you to have before wasting money on a policy that you immediately need to upgrade at possibly a higher cost than if you just got the full amount to begin with.
