I don't know about Bonnie, but we may be in a different situation to yourself and others on the UT due to the fact that the majority (all in fact) of the work we do is in relation to our standard off the shelf product that we occasionally customise.

Due to this situation I find it really hard to believe (but not impossible <g>) that there would be a huge population of DBAs who refuse to let you run SPs on their servers. In our experience, the DBAs are usually the ones who look at our DB structure once the app is installed and complain we aren't using enough SPs causing undue load on their client machines.

Maybe for people who develop in house software their may be politics going on that make the DBAs force you to do strange things?
