Generally, from the example you gave, there is no advantage. The object method only allows you to move the set of globals around from procedure to procedure as a group. Otherwise, you are look at a lot of modification to the code to reference the objects properties, where they once referenced them as variables.

Unless there is a true need to have them in an object, go by the rule: If it not broken, don't fix it.
