Reviewing the actual job, one might observe that the VB/Access job has to be "perfected". One wonders exactly what sort of "imperfection" the company currently enjoys. The xBase is to be maintained and "eventually" will be moved to another platform.

The company is not saying that FP is being dropped immediately in favour of dotNET, as far as I can tell. Indeed, it might be saying that its ancient FP2.x app needs to be rewritten in VFP. You cannot say.

In any case: is the company not agreeing with the view of most commentators here- stay productive by earning $ from FP, earn $ by fixing VB/Access stickies, but be watchful and ready when some other tool makes sufficient sense to move across?

I see nothing to justify your disparaging remarks which, as usual, present people here as luddites who cannot see the obvious.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
