Your comments bear little relevance to the job description. xBase is to be maintained, not dropped. VB/Access problems are to be resolved. Eventually, xBase to be moved across to a more acceptable/maintainable platform.
Isn't this what most people here would describe as a sensible strategy? STAY PRODUCTIVE while being ready if something new makes compelling sense?
Anyway, where does it say the xBase is VFP? How do you know it isn't FP2.x, in which case the "contemporary and sustainable" tool might be VFP itself? I have no idea, but nor do you; nevertheless you have built a fixed position.
