Sorry, I'm not familar with remote views. If this effect is not produced by event handlers, so may be VFP produces it. Try to browse this view with VFP BROWSE command. If BROWSE window will have same effect - it's a VFP bug.
Don't forget you can delay binding a grid to data set by setting RecordSource property in code just when you need it (Then you will probably need to set columns' ControlSource properties). Thus the grid will be not connected to data on form's initialization.
