This doesn't necessarily mean that VFP can't do this stuff. There are other possible reasons:

1) Developers creating more sophisticated interfaces.
2) Developers trying to do things the wrong way and asking for a work around.
It's been my experience that many of the postings here and in other forums are asking just this sort of question.
